DOP – Liam Higgins

Liam Higgins

Cinematographer | Narrative & Documentary

Liam’s journey began as a photojournalist and writer, but he quickly realized that moving images could bridge the gap between words and vision. Shooting small music videos and local brand spots in Windsor led him naturally into narrative and commercial filmmaking.

“I always kind of longed to focus more on imagery… that just kind of led into commercial filmmaking, narrative filmmaking, and other things.”

Visual Style:

Liam describes his approach as intuitive. He frames each shot through the lens of character, space, and emotion – trusting internal instinct informed by a deep understanding of the story.

“My goal is for everything to feel as natural as possible… if we’re in a dark setting, we embrace the darkness.”

“My go‑to camera is the Alexa 35… the workflow towards a filmic‑like image is just getting more and more better.
  • Lenses: Leica Summilux‑C Primes
“I love the look and feel of the Leica glass – creamy bokeh, accurate colour rendition, and minimal distortion even at wider focal lengths.

The One Thing He Always Forgets:

His Underrated Gem:

“The most underrated thing of any cinematographer is their crew… tools are tools, but the people you work with are the most valuable.”
